Reglan Linked to Severe Neurological Problems

About Reglan & Metoclopramide

Reglan is used to treat heartburn caused by gastric reflux. The drug's key ingredient, metoclopramide, speeds up the rate at which the stomach empties into the intestines, through increased muscle contractions in the upper digestive track. The FDA has now linked metoclopramide to a neurological syndrome called Tardive Dyskinesia, which is characterized by involuntary movements of a person's limbs and/or face.

Symptoms of Tardive Dyskinesia

If you were prescribed Reglan, Abilify, Clozaril, Phenergan, Risperdal, Seroquel or Zyprexa, and experienced any of the following symptoms of Tardive Dyskinesia, seek medical attention and an experienced attorney as soon as possible:

  • Teeth grinding
  • Difficulty eating, swallow and speaking
  • Uncontrollable facial grimacing, lip smacking and tongue protrusion
  • Uncontrollable eye movements
  • Uncontrollable movements of the head, arms, hands or other body part
